We was asked by a customer to look at her sons Nintendo Switch which would not power on, she told us that it would not charge. The first thing we always do is look at the charge port under a microscope, if the USB-C pins are damaged then connecting to a charger may introduce another issue. The customer, of course, would do this without realising that there is an issue with a risk and damage.

In this case we could see that the USB-C charge port in this Nintendo Switch was infact damaged. The pins inside the port where bent backwards. We dismantled the device and tested other components that may be damaged due to a damaged charge port. All tested good so we went ahead and removed the port.

After a new port was soldered in place we cleaned the inside of the case and put the switch back together and tested it with an Amp metre. We got the right volts and charging amps, it's another fix!!

We also noticed that the Kickstand was missing, no problem as we fitted a new one free of charge.

Needless to say our gamer, and his mum, where over the moon. We charged up the battery, gave it a thorough test and took it straight back to the owner.
