Let us fix that for you.
iLogix Computer Solution was asked by a customer to help her with her iPhone 8 Plus. She told us that the battery would run out very quickly and there was nothing she could do to stop this, no matter how few apps she was running the battery would die very quickly.

The Apple iPhone 8 Plus is an old device however iLogix still see a lot of them. A new iPhone costs a small fortune so for many people they prefer to hang on to their old phone for as long as possible. This is of course great news for iLogix because as you know our ethos is "saving the planet one repair at a time".
If you look at the photo at the top of this blog the Battery app on the iPhone is telling us that the battery needs a service. In other words it needs to be replaced. The older a battery becomes the less optimal it is and in no time at all you will find yourself charging your phone at every opportunity.
The first thing we need to do is take the screen off the phone, this requires precision, the right tools and an anti static environment. Then disconnect the battery.
The iPhone 8 was the first Apple iPhone model to support wireless charging. This is the reason that the iPhone 8 has back glass whereas the iPhone 7 had an alloy case. Under the battery is where you will find the wireless charging coil. This means if you do something silly like stick a screwdriver under the battery and pry it up you could end up with a bigger problem. Check out this picture below.
There are plastic tabs under and on top of the battery, if you carefully wind these around a pair of tweezers you can draw them out from under the battery. This allows you to lift the battery out without prying.
Then simply install the new battery, make sure everything is seated. Seal the edges of the screen to prevent water splashes getting inside then power up and test.
We now have a happy customer.
One of the caveats with old iPhones is that they do not always run the latest version of iOS (Apples iPhone Software). This could mean security problems and the latest App Store apps run on the latest iOS so you may not be able to run the Apps you want.
Handling batteries takes experience. There are a few things that can happen to batteries which are very dangerous. Apple calls these "Battery Events". In the Apple Stores the "geniuses" follow very strict guidance around battery handling and have extensive training on what to do in the event of an event.
iLogix Computer Solutions are ACiT's (Apple Certified iOS Technician) so we have done the Apple Training, we have been the "Geniuses".
Do not take any risks !! Seriously this job is not expensive, let us do this for you.
