After upgrading to macOS 13 Ventura, Malwarebytes Real-Time Protection is disabled, due to Full Disk Access (FDA) permissions being impacted. This article explains how to re-enable Real-Time Protection.
Malwarebytes for Mac version 4.16 and earlier do not officially support macOS 13 Ventura.
Symptoms Real-Time protection is turned off and a prompt requesting full disk access permissions in the program window is displayed.
Cause Apple has identified known issue 100857507 with macOS 13 Ventura. Applications using Endpoint Security extensions might lose Full Disk Access authorization, impacting their ability to function. This issue does not affect MDM-enabled extensions. For more information, see macOS Ventura 13.1 Beta Release Notes.
Workaround To re-enable Real-Time Protection, Full Disk Access permissions need to be reset.
Note: Full Disk Access permissions may appear enabled, but it is necessary to reset the permission by removing it and adding it again to enable Real-Time Protection.
Open the System Settings.
Click on Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access.
Click on Malwarebytes Protection to select it.
Click the minus (-) button at the bottom of the list to remove the item. If prompted to enter your system password to modify settings, enter your password and click Modify Settings.
Open Malwarebytes for Mac.
Toggle on Real-Time Protection.
The How to allow full disk access window displays. Click Open preferences.
The System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access window opens.
Toggle on Full Disk Access for Malwarebytes Protection which is added back to the list. Real-Time Protection enables automatically.
